What you'll accomplish

A grant application that normally takes 8 to 12 hours to write can take 2 to 4 hours when you let Claude read the RFP, extract key requirements, and score your fit before you write a word. More importantly, you'll stop spending 10 hours writing grants your school isn't competitive for. This guide sets up that workflow.

What you'll need

  • A Claude account at claude.ai (free tier works for most grants; Claude Pro handles longer RFPs better)
  • The grant RFP or guidelines document (as a PDF you can copy text from, or a webpage you can copy)
  • Your school's key facts: demographics, enrollment, achievement data, programs, mission
  • A list of past funded projects (if you have it)
  • Time needed: 45 minutes per grant (vs. 8-12 hours from scratch)
  • Cost: Free (or {{tool:Claude.price}}/month for Claude Pro)

How-To Guide: Analyze Grant RFPs and Draft Application Narratives

Step 1: Log into Claude and start a new chat

Go to claude.ai → New chat. You'll use a separate chat for each grant to keep applications from contaminating each other.
